Torbjorn will be the next Overwatch hero to receive an overhaul, according to a new developer update from Blizzard. Some of his familiar abilities, such as his turret and Molten Core ultimate ability will be reworked, while his scrap collecting and Armor Pack abilities will be replaced entirely.
In place of throwing Armor Packs will be a new ability called “Overload.” Upon activation, this ability will give Torbjorn temporary armor, along with increased speed for movement, attacks, and reloading. Essentially, Overload is taking some traits from the now-reworked Molten Core.
Torbjorn’s ultimate ability will now have the character shoot out molten lava through his claw hand, really taking the name “Molten Core” more literally. This will provide Torbjorn players with the ability of denial, creating pools of damaging lava in the way of important areas. Finally, the turret will now be a throwable item when deployed—turret levels are gone and are instantly built, and they will be destructible manually with a single command.
Expect these changes to show up on the PTR server first, before being pushed out to all players on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. In the meantime, players can enjoy Busan, the game’s newest map, or reminisce about Torbjorn’s backstory through a digital comic.
