PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds is the biggest multiplayer game of 2017 and as of just a few days ago the battle royale title made its console debut on Xbox One via the Xbox Game Preview program. Clearly, Xbox fans were desperate to play the game for themselves as seen by some new numbers.

Microsoft announced today that during PUBG’s first 48 hours of availability, over 1 million players had dropped onto the island in the hopes of getting themselves a nice chicken dinner. These numbers are fairly impressive for any multiplayer game during its first week of launch, let alone a title that is still in a preview program. The massive success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PC has obviously carried over to Xbox One if these early sales are of any indication.

To celebrate this success, Microsoft also revealed a new holiday promotion involving both PUBG and their newest premium console, the Xbox One X. Beginning on December 17 and running through the end of the year, anyone who purchases an Xbox One X will automatically receive a copy of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for themselves. This deal will be available in Microsoft Stores both online and at retail. To see if your local retailer will be offering this promotion, check with them for more information.

While there have been a variety of issues that players have had with PUBG on Xbox One during this first week, Microsoft promises that the game will continue to receive enhancements, optimization, and new content such as the desert map of Miramar, which recently launched on PC. Despite the issues that have been seen so far, it seems like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has the possibility of creating a thriving community on Xbox One as the game will only continue to improve in its preview state over time.
