What compels someone to create monstrosities? Whether it is the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers with googly eyes or the equally terrify Joy-Con knife addition just… why? And that is what I’m left asking after seeing a video of a new Osu! mod that lets people add For Honor sound effects… for some reason.

In case you haven’t heard of Osu!, the game is a free and open-source rhythm game developed by Dean Herbert. The basics of the game are simple — circles (or dragged circles) pop up on screen and you have to use your mouse or touchpad to follow the beat. The community for the game is huge, with people being talented enough to pull off videos like this:

But with large communities come some weird crossovers — especially with the larger than life For Honor community. And while any crossover was unlikely, it appears that a Redditor has done just that, adding For Honor sound effects to the beat of each Osu! interaction.

While the video starts off normal enough as the player boots up “Cold Green Eyes ft. Roos Denayer,” things take a medieval shift as the song starts up. Everytime that the player interacts with the screen, we are treated to one of the Conqueror’s “Rah!”s. It’s patently ridiculous, and worth watching below:

The “Rah!” has been a pretty great spamming BM sound effect for the For Honor community, and one instantly recognizable to people playing for an extended period of time.

All things considered, For Honor still maintains a very dedicated community over two years from the game’s initial launch. We saw a recent crossover event, where Ubsioft added in assassin’s from the Assassin’s Creed series. Additionally, if you haven’t picked up the game now is the perfect time to — For Honor is February’s PS4 free game for PlayStation Plus. Just be aware that there are many people who have perfected the art of combat.

If you don’t have For Honor or a PlayStation Plus subscription, you can pick up the title now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In fact, the Amazon version of the game is coming in at a pretty severe discount. As mentioned previously, Osu! is available for free on PC.
