Windy Hill Studios, the one-person studio of Brandon Goins based in Johnson City, Tennessee, and publisher 2D Games have announced that Orphan will get a release on October 31. PC is first in line for the eerie sci-fi indie, but PS4 and Xbox One are heading in at the end of the year.

Orphan is a dark, 2D sci-fi Metroidvania-style platformer about a young boy, the presumed sole-remaining survivor of an alien invasion. Armed with only his camping gear and the canvas of the night sky to keep him “safe,” Orphan will have players using their stealth abilities to creep through the intimidating deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky in hopes of a way to defeat the mechanical invaders and unearth their intent.

Fans of the award-winning, critically acclaimed Limbo will see a similar visual input and play-style in the title, with an estimated play-length of 5-10 hours. Orphan, among more than 50 other indie titles, will be shown on 30th August at Microsoft’s ID@Xbox Event in Seattle during PAX West 2018.

Orphan will officially launch for the PC on October 31. Xbox One and PS4 versions are planned by the end of the year, so keep an eye out for our news-feed, but until then you can find the game’s PC launch trailer and a giant splash of screenshots below this post.
