Opening Night Live is a brand new event that was taken place for the first time in 2019, thanks to the partnership between Gamescom and Geoff Keighley. As the opening celebration for the Gamescom expo, which is technically the biggest gaming event in the world, we got to see a lot of new trailers from different studios and publishers last year. Fortunately, the show is on for this year as well, and Keighley confirmed that it will go live on August 27th.

Despite the fact that COVID-19 has been disrupting many gaming events since the earlier months of 2020, it didn’t stop the publishers from revealing their new projects in the industry. While some of the big companies such as Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Electronic Arts will be holding their own events digitally, some other publishers have decided to gather around their announcements and stream them as a digital event for a few days.

Naming all the upcoming events as Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley is going to perform the grand finale of the already started gaming festival. With Gamescom happening digitally this year, the Opening Night Live will also take place as a digital stream on August 27th, followed by the live-streams of different publishers around the world until August 30. However, before we reach the grand finale, there are some exciting trailers to watch during the next-gen-dedicated events of Microsoft and Sony in Summer.

Regarding the fact that some companies like Square Enix and Bethesda missed their E3 showcases this year, the upcoming Gamescom live-stream could be a great chance for them to update fans on their ongoing projects.

Last year, we got to see new trailers from Gears 5, Need For Speed: Heat, Borderlands 3, FIFA 20, Disintegration, and Death Stranding during the Opening Night Live, along with several reveal trailers from small indie studios.
