One Piece World Seeker Opening Cutscene Shows Luffy and the Straw Hats in Action

Bandai Namco published a new trailer for One Piece World Seeker, showcasing the Straw Hat Pirates and their captain Monkey D. Luffy as they infiltrate the Sky Prison, floating above Prison Island. The cutscene also shows Luffy fighting with Isaac, the prison’s warden and the original character created to act at the game’s main antagonist.

One Piece World Seeker is an open world game where players control Luffy as he explores multiple islands. Luffy can use all of his iconic attacks and his Gear forms powerups, and the game as a stealth system too, as Luffy has a sonar-like ability, can infiltrate areas and instakill enemies without being spotted.

At a first glance, World Seeker can look quite different from the One Piece anime and manga, especially with how realistic some environments look. One good way to put it is how it’s pretty much like a One Piece movie. Each movie has its own aesthetics and designs, and One Piece World Seeker is the same. While only Luffy is playable, multiple iconic characters will appear, from Trafalgar Law to Crocodile, and the game also features a Sky Island.

The plot will probably follow what happens in most One Piece movies too: the Straw Hats meet some new villain, here it’s Isaac, and some allies, here it’s a new character named Jeanne. They fight a bit, help out with their new friends’ problem, defeat the villain, and leave.

The TV anime series and movies’ composer Kohei Tanaka is on board as well. The same talented Kohei Tanaka who will probably come back as Sakura Wars‘ traditional composer on New Sakura Wars, which should be getting new info at Sega Fes 2019 from March 30 to 31.

One Piece World Seeker is developed by Ganbarion, a studio which delivered us some pretty great games in the past, like Pandora’s Tower, one of my favorite games on Wii.

You can find the opening cutscene below. The game’s opening movie was previously streamed as well.

One Piece World Seeker will be launching on March 15 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game was initially scheduled to launch before the end of 2018, but got delayed multiple times.
