Independent developer Sokaikan recently brought its action RPG Okinawa Rush to Kickstarter in hopes of raising £10,000 (about $13,500) in order for the team to dedicate themselves to the game full-time and to hire artists for animations and some new stages. An announcement came today that they were able to successfully meet their initial Kickstarter goal.

In Okinawa Rush, you will play as Hiro Yashima, a legendary martial arts master who has honed his skills to a level that is far beyond the ordinary. With the ability to summon flame, he must avenge his family by taking out the army of ninja known as the Black Mantis, a group that has come to Okinawa to find the scroll Hiro used to attain his own powers.

Sokaikan calls Okinawa Rush a skill-based action RPG with heavy inspiration from 90s arcade titles like Double Dragon and Street Fighter. As you progress through the game, you will learn the ins-and-outs of its quick combat, parry system, and Feng Shui item system. The game will also feature two-player cooperative mode with local co-op as an option.

Okinawa Rush is expected to release sometime later in 2017 for PC. Now that the Kickstarter campaign has completed, the team is also confident that the game will also be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
