Hello Games released their biggest update so far for No Man’s Sky earlier this year with the launch of NEXT, a titled update that drastically changed No Man’s Sky. As of next week, Hello Games has today announced that the first titled update following NEXT will arrive next week and it will be appropriately be related to the current holiday season.

In a blog post on the official No Man’s Sky website, Hello Games’ Sean Murray announced The Abyss, which is a new free update for NMS that a “handful” of members at the studio have been working on. Murray said that this update will go live next week across all platforms and said it is just one small step in the larger content plans that they have for the game.

While Murray didn’t say much about what The Abyss will entail, he did seem to imply that it will be related to the upcoming Halloween by saying that this update “focuses on some of the eerier elements of No Man’s Sky, in keeping with the theme of this season.”

As of now, we don’t know when The Abyss scheduled to go live but we’ll surely hear more about it from Hello Games soon. No Man’s Sky is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
