Today Nintendo announced with a press release that the Switch has once more topped the NPD figures for the month of September, ranking as the best selling current-generation hardware in the United States.
On top of that, we learn that the console has already surpassed two million units sold in the U.S. prior to its first holiday season on the shelves.
While we don’t get figures with the same degree of precision for 3DS and Super Nintendo Classic Mini, if you sum the three consoles together, they take up two-thirds of September total hardware sales in the US.
Nintendo Switch games also took several spots in the list of top-selling games, with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle from Ubisoft in seventh place, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 10th place, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in eleventh place. Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS also debuted admirably in eighth place.
According to the press release, Nintendo aims to continue this momentum in the holidays season, and it’ll be interesting to see the results when everything will be said and done in January.
Personally, I’m certainly going to play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in December, hoping that it’ll be at great as it looks.
