Today Nintendo released some more details on the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online Service.

Subscribers will get the following: Online gameplay, NES games at no additional cost, cloud saves (and this is the big new element), the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, and Nintendo eShop deals.

Everyone (including subscribers, of course), will get system software and game updates, use of the Nintendo eShop, the friend list, sharing screenshots on social media, and parental controls.

The first half of the initial lineup of classic NES games will be Ice Climber, Football, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Tennis, Dr. Mario, Donkey Kong, Balloon Fight, and Mario Bros. Ten more games will be announced at a later time.

Considering that there is nothing overly-Japanese in there, I would expect the western line-up to be similar if not identical.

Price will be 300 yen for a month ($3.99), 800 yen for a trimester ($7.99), 2,400  yen and for a year ($19.99). We’re also getting a yearly “family plan” for 4,500 yen ($34.99) , usable with up to eight accounts.

If you still don’t have a Switch and want one to prepare for the upcoming games, you can purchase your unit on Amazon. You can also check out a recent commercial from earlier today.
