Aside from giving players access to the online components of many Switch titles, Nintendo Switch Online has also provided an added incentive in giving players a wealth of classic games to enjoy from the NES and SNES libraries. While it has been a few months since the last major drop of new games, Nintendo appears to be making up for the silence with a new slew of games coming next week.
Nintendo has announced the next game update for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, which includes 4 new SNES titles and 2 new NES titles. You can find the full list of new games below, which will be coming to the service on Thursday, December 12:
Super NES – Nintendo Switch Online:
・Star Fox 2
・Super Punch-Out!!
・Kirby Super Star
・Breath of Fire II
NES – Nintendo Switch Online:
・Journey to Silius
・Crystalis
Overall, it seems like Switch owners will have a great deal of new games to enjoy next week, especially with the slate of new SNES titles that are arriving and heralded as classics, be it Super Punch-Out!!, Kirby Super Star, or Breath of Fire II.
However, notably this next wave of classic games for the online service includes Star Fox 2, which was previously finished and unreleased by Nintendo in the mid-1990s during the SNES era. The title had previously never seen the light of day until its release on the SNES Classic Edition in 2017, which gave players their first chance to experience this long-lost sequel in its finished form. Of course, now that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online, a wider audience of players will get to check the title out for themselves with an active Switch Online subscription. It doesn’t hurt of course that it happens to star Fox McCloud, who is quite the fox, indeed.
