Nintendo is the Ninth Most Reputable Company in the U.S.

While Nintendo has been picking up the slack over the last few years since the release of the Switch, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the Japanese based company. The Wii U, despite the excellent catalog of games, was a commercial failure and the company was riding out the coattails of the 3DS until the Switch was finally able to release. Now, it seems as if everyone and their mother is picking a Switch up and it certainly shows. So much so that Nintendo has become an extremely recognizable and reputable entity.

In the biggest corporate reputation study ever conducted in the United States, Nintendo cracked the top ten and is the ninth most reputable company in the country just above The Lego Group. This test assessed more than 2,200 companies and included Netflix, Rolex, and Costco, which has superior pizza compared to Sam’s Club and you all know it. You can see the full top ten list right here:

1. Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX)

2. Hershey (NYSE: HSY)

3. Whirlpool (NYSE: WHR)

4. Rolex

5. McCormick & Company (NYSE: MKC)

6. Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS)

7. Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS)

8. Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST)

9. Nintendo (OTCMKTS: NYDOY)

10. The LEGO Group

As you can see, Nintendo was the only video game based company to crack the top ten. Could Sony’s tactic of playing hardball on cross-platform play hurt them in the study? While Phil Spencer and the Xbox team has been making arguably the most consumer-friendly moves over the last few years, some people have a hard time separating the corporate overlords of Microsoft from the gaming division.

Whether it’ the family-friendly atmosphere Mario games ooze, the feel-good stories of the reputable and charismatic Satoru Iwata, or the team that led the company after his passing, Nintendo certainly brings a charm to the video game world. Maybe it is just that Nintendo magic we all talk about?
