New PS4 System Software Update 6.0 Incoming; Sony Starts Recruiting Beta Testers [UPDATED]

News, Originals, PS4, Sony Interactive Entertainment

Today Sony Interactive Entertainment started to recruit beta testers for the next major system software update for the PlayStation 4.

At the moment of this writing, registrations have started only for the Japanese PlayStation Network, but they’re likely to be extended to North America and Europe soon.

Update: North American registration is now open and can be found here.

The eligible period for registration is between July 19th and July 27th, and those selected will be contacted at a later date.

For now, the house of PlayStation has not mentioned which kind of features we can expect from the new update, but the latest relevant patch (5.50) for which Sony requested the help of beta testers added several welcome features like supersampling mode, teams, and more nice quality-of-life improvements.

It’ll be interesting to see what is coming, and we’ll probably learn more over the next few days.

In case you missed it, the house of PlayStation recently revealed the new PS4 hardware revision CUH-2200. That being said, a direct relationship with the upcoming system software update is unlikely.
