Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included a spread with the reveal of Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists: Atelier of the New Land by Gust.

The game is in development for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PS Vita, and will release in Japan this year. Interestingly, it’s an “all-star” city building simulation RPG. Basically, it’s Sim City with JRPG elements in a world inspired by Atelier.

The game tells the story of Nelke Von Rushtam, and she is the daughter of a noble family who is entrusted by her father the government of a frontier region named Vestobald. She is also searching for an artefact named “Relic of the Wise.”

Her task is to build up the region, constructing various kinds of facilities while taking care of the finances as well. Incidentally, she’s not an alchemist. She is the governor. Many alchemists from the past games of the series will join the city and the party as the story progresses.

Of course, city-building is only one aspect of the game, as this is still an RPG, so battle, exploration, gathering, and alchemy are still involved. While this is a spin-off game, it still in part a traditional Atelier title.

You can check out the screenshots below while keeping in mind that these are, as usual, magazine scans, so the quality is far from perfect. If Gust’s usual pacing is any indication, we’ll get the direct-feed versions on Sunday.
