NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, which released back in October of last year, has been getting some new content updates. The added features in the latest round of DLC include a new Mars Playground court, new outfits, and court editor items. However, the biggest takeaway from the update is cross-play support, as revealed by the official Twitter account:

It’s nice to see that players on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC can play together for absolutely free. Unfortunately PS4 players are out of this gaming loop, as there’s no mention of the platform in the status update. Considering Sony’s general stance on the feature, it will most likely stay that way.

This isn’t the first time NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 has gotten some nifty free DLC content as the previous Christmas-themed one dropped an icy playground, brand-new festive vanity items, and 35 new players featuring legendary ballers from the classic 90s NBA era like Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman.

The game has seen some rough patches leading up to launch with the sequel being delayed from its previous May 22 release date and then a few months later that Saber Interactive re-emerged and announced that they had joined forces with 2K Sports to re-brand the franchise as NBA 2K Playgrounds.

It also suffered from being a mediocre experience at best, at least according to our own review of the title, although the continued support from the devs has done wonders to mitigate at least some of the issues.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
