My Time at Portia developers Pathea Games revealed on the game’s Facebook page that they will be releasing an update to improve load times on Nintendo Switch. The update will be available “as close to (console) launch day as possible”.

My Time at Portia is an open-world farm RPG in the vein of Rune Factory or, to a lesser degree, Stardew Valley.  You inherit your Pa’s workshop and go about discovering everything Portia has to offer. The game gives you tons to do. You can improve your workshop by gathering and crafting or run your own farm, complete with semi-automatic irrigation systems. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to explore ancient ruins and battle fearsome creatures.

Fans of Stardew Valley will find a lot to love here; however, the game does differ in some key ways. For one, combat is much more necessary, as certain items are only found from drops and some quests force you to fight. The story also is also more at the forefront of your playthrough, making the game feel less open-ended. That said, fans of the genre should find a lot to love here.

Because there is so much in-game content, previous builds on the Nintendo Switch had load times that were nearly one minute. That can feel like forever when you’re on the go. As seen in the video below, Pathea Games has gotten those times down quite a bit.

In the video, the load time is just about 10 seconds. That’s still a little long, but much improved over the old times. This is a welcome change for those of us hoping to play My Time at Portia on our commute.

My Time at Portia is out now on PC and is coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on April 16. Pre-ordering the game on Amazon will also net you so cool pre-order exclusive items that were detailed in a recent trailer
