The Muv-Luv series was born on visual novels and has been published on a limited amount of platforms so far, but things might change in the future.

DualShockers had a chat with the series’ creator Koki Yoshimune at ixtl’s headquarter in Akihabara, Tokyo, and he explained that he would like to see the series expand to new horizons down the line.

Yoshimune-san mentioned that he would like to try to use new technologies as the team did with Muv-Luv VR. There is a lot of new tech that has been developed recently, and it would be great to utilize it to show the Muv-Luv world in a new way and to a wider audience.

Of course, that prompted me to ask whether we might ever see a mecha combat action game set in the Muv-Luv universe, as the franchise would be perfect for that. Yoshimune-san mentioned that he feels the same way, and it would be easy to imagine a first-person-shooter or third-person-shooter in which the player is a pilot in the cockpit of a Tactical Surface Fighter (the series’ mecha). He is looking forward to creating something unique while taking advantage of newer technology when the timing is right, and when that happens, he would like the fans to support his plans.

Yoshimune-san also mentioned that he is always looking for ways to expand the reach of the series to other platforms.

If you’re not familiar with the series, you can read my own review of Muv Luv and Muv Luv AlternativeBoth games have recently been re-released on Steam, and they’ll launch on PS Vita this summer. You can also check out Yoshimune-san’s comments on the possibility of having international creators give birth to Muv-Luv stories set in their own countries.

Of course, you can look forward to the full interview, that will be published soon here on DualShockers.
