Mortal Kombat 11 is set to launch for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch next week and has been receiving a ton of awesome trailers before then. Yesterday’s launch trailer was pretty amazing, but this new French ad may top it by featuring a special guest from the 1990’s Mortal Kombat movies: Christopher Lambert.

For those of you who don’t know or have never seen the movies, Christopher Lambert starred as Raiden in both 1995’s Mortal Kombat and 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. While both of those movies fall in the “so bad it’s good” category, Annihilation moreso, Christopher Lambert’s performance is fairly iconic to fans of the Mortal Kombat series. As highlighted by Twitter user @JustSlaythe, Christopher Lambert says “We got history him and I… ah ah ah… sorry.” after the other player asks how he got so good at the game.

Frankly, it’s pretty satisfying to see Christopher Lambert play Raiden in the latest game and do that iconic laugh. Even if those movies aren’t great, it’s nice to see that marketing teams from around the world are playing homage to the entire series considering the time-traveling nature of Mortal Kombat 11‘s story. This won’t even be the only Mortal Kombat movie reference in this new game as Shang Tsung is coming as DLC and will be modeled after Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the actor who portrayed him in the Mortal Kombat movie.

Mortal Kombat 11 will release for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 23. If you want to pre-order the game so you can play as Shao Kahn, it is currently available on Amazon.
