If you haven’t tried NetherRealm Studios’ most recent fighter, now might be a good time. The latest Mortal Kombat 11 free weekend has begun.

Starting today, between March 5-9, you can check out the popular fighter on PS4 and Xbox One consoles at no additional cost during the Mortal Kombat 11 free weekend. If this is like past trial periods, this will include the first two chapters of Story Mode, and all multiplayer game modes.

However, the tweet above does not give specific details. However, it does note that this is only for PS4 and Xbox One players. So, those who wanted to try Mortal Kombat 11 for Nintendo Switch, PC, or Stadia will have to purchase it.

If you like what you play during the Mortal Kombat 11 free weekend, the game is currently on sale for a rather steep discount. On PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, you can grab the standard edition of the fighting game for only $23.99. The Nintendo Switch version is still $59.99.

Not so coincidentally, this free weekend begins during Final Kombat weekend. Final Kombat 2020 is the culmination of the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition that began last year. Starting March 7, the Last Chance Qualifier event in Skokie, Illinois will determine who joins the top 16 players at Final Kombat. On March 8, the real tournament begins. At Park West in Chicago, Illinois, the top 16 will compete for the crown and a big share of the $100,000 prize pool.

There will be special appearances from Ed Boon (Co-creator of Mortal Kombat), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (voice of Shang Tsung), Keith David (voice of Spawn), and Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn). The Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay trailer will be shown, as well as other content reveals. Spawn is the final DLC character included in the Kombat Pack.

I reviewed Mortal Kombat 11 when it launched last year. Long story short, it’s one of my favorite fighting games ever made. Personally, it was my favorite game released in 2019.
