Today, during the broadcast of the Monster Hunter Championship 2018, Capcom showcased footage of a Monster Hunter World gameplay prototype from 2015.
The prototype is somewhat similar to the first trailer showcased by the developer at E3 2017, showing a hunt targeting Anjanath. Of course, the footage is much more extensive as it was created to showcase the ecology systems and the hunting mechanics.
One major difference between this video and the reveal of the game is that the Anjanath isn’t tackled by a Rathalos at the end, but by the classic Thunder-based sea wyvern Lagiacrus. Instead of the king of the sky, we had the king of the sea.
Unfortunately, the team decided to cut Lagiacrus from the game, so don’t expect it to become playable any time soon. This is simply a nice look into what could have been.
