It seemed like only a matter of time until we started to hear about potential delays for upcoming video games as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and it looks like one April title could now have its release date pushed back.

In a new message from developer Mojang today, it was said that the studio has shifted to working from home as it continues to finalize development on the upcoming dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons. While not officially delayed just yet, Mojang confirmed that “our workflows will unfortunately be impacted.” The studio continued on saying, “We’re working hard to deliver Minecraft Dungeons in April, but we’re also re-evaluating our timeline to make sure we bring you the best game possible.”

As of now, Minecraft Dungeons still didn’t have a specific release date other than just the broad window of April 2020. Still, it would’ve made sense for us to hear about a certain date in that window any time now, although that could absolutely now be in question. The larger question at play, though, comes in the way of just how many other developers with releases in April and beyond might be affected by these new work from home initiatives, too.

We’ll keep you posted on this story as it develops in the near future. If Minecraft Dungeons does end up getting delayed, you’d imagine we’d find out relatively soon with how quickly April is approaching.

Until then, Minecraft Dungeons is set to arrive on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC once it releases.
