Kadokawa Games announced Metal Max Xeno Reborn will be launching in Japan on March 26, 2020, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. This game is a remake of Metal Max Xeno, which first launched on PS Vita and PS4 in 2018. Xeno Reborn uses realistic graphics for its environments while keeping the characters designed by Oda Non in anime style. The game has many new elements including letting you add the doggo to your party.

New screenshots were also revealed by Kadokawa Games:

First print copies of the game, which you can recognize thanks to the doggo imprint, will include dog-only DLC item “Super Wan Wan Gourmet”, which increases the doggo’s abilities.

A limited edition was also announced. The Limited Edition’s box illustration is by mangaka Atsuji Yamamoto, who illustrates the Metal Max series. The limited edition contains:

  • A copy of the game with the first print Wanwan gourmet DLC
  • A DLC code for the Old Friend R engine item. It’s a nice engine that will support you till midgame.
  • The special ReBORN TO BE WILD OST CD by series music composer Satoshi Kadokura
  • The special ReBORN TO BE WILD booklet which will include a manga tentatively named “Sorry doggo” by Atsuji Yamamoto
  • Three limited pins

Xeno Reborn is part of the projects linked to the 30th anniversary of the Metal Max franchise. Two other games were already announced: There is Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2, which will also come to PS4 and Switch in 2020. And we have another Metal Max game tentatively named Code Zero, which will launch in 2021 on unknown platforms.

Kadokawa Games announced the Metal Max 2021 Road to 30th Anniversary event will be held on January 17, so we should learn more about the upcoming games then. Stay tuned on DualShockers as we’ll cover this event.

The original Metal Max Xeno did come over, so Xeno Reborn will definitely release outside Japan at some point though Kadokawa Games didn’t make some official announcements yet.
