Today Kadokawa Games released a large batch of screenshots of the upcoming open-world JRPG Metal Max Xeno.

First of all, we get to see the classes available for characters.

Hunter Taris’ basic class, specialized on fighting monsters on vehicles. Its two skills are Targeted Shots, that detect an enemy’s weakness and hit it, and Decoy, that lets the hunter lure monsters to themselves and away from companions.

Mechanic is Yukki’s basic class, specialized on field-repairing vehicles. Spanner attack decreases a machine enemy’s defense power, while Repair does exactly what it says on the tin.

Survivor is Toni’s basic class, specialized on using healing items with the Recovery skill and support. Smoke Grenade lowers the enemy’s hit rate.

Soldier is Maria’s basic class. It’s the game’s close combat specialist on foot. They’re not good at fighting on vehicles. Flow lets the soldier attack twice by switching between two weapons. Barrel Blast increases a vehicle’s damage output, but strains the weapons, risking to damage them.

Gangster is Dylan’s basic class. They specialize in flashy attacks and can fight both on vehicles and on foot, but they lack agility. Throw let them launch items at enemies, dealing damage. Shooting lets them attack multiple time.

Medic is Misaki’s basic class, specialized in healing. Forbidden Syringe detects the biometric data of a monster, and can instantly kill it under certain conditions. Battlefield AED revives an ally that has been knocked out, recovering over half of their HP.

Characters also have unique skills independent of their classes.

We also get to see the ability to find special weapons created with lost technology called “Nephtech Equipment.” They’re prototypes created with “Nephilim Technology,” and they’re very powerful.

It’s also possible to fine-tune parts via weight reduction in order to optimize your vehicle build, but those will be more likely to suffer damage and break down.

As players advance in the adventure, they’ll also be able to find “Super-remodeling alloy.” By using it, they can improve weapons and engines beyond their usual limits.

Recently, we learned that the game will come west courtesy of NIS America this fall. It’ll be exclusively for PS4, skipping the PS Vita version that will be released only in Japan.
