Today developer Guerilla Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment have officially announced that the multiplayer servers for both Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be going offline on March 29th, 2018.

The developer announced the news in a blog post on the website, thanking all the fans who have played the both game’s online modes at the same time.

It’s interesting to note that both games have trophies that require you to play online, so if for some reason you have a sudden urge to platinum either title, you’ll have to do so in the next couple months, as it will officially be impossible to do so on that day.

It should go without saying, however, that even though these servers will be going offline, the single-player mode for both games will be still playable after that date.

It’s always a sad day when servers for game’s go down, and today is no different. That being said, Killzone 3’s servers will be seven years old at the time of its shutdown, while Killzone 2’s will be a whopping nine, so it’s safe to say they have had a fairly long lifespan.

Killzone 2 was originally released on February 26, 2009, while Killzone 3 was released on February 22, 2011. Both titles are exclusively available on PlayStation 3.
