Today Square Enix fully unveiled Toji No Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi (which translates as “Sword-wielding Maidens: Engraved In a Flash of Light“), a new game inspired by the 2017 manga and super-recent anime (the first episode aired on January 5th) Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko.

The game was teased with a brief trailer at Tokyo Game Show 2017, but we finally get to see what it’s all about. It’s a mobile turn-based JRPG for iOS and Android that will be released in 2018 in Japan, with no western release hinted at for the moment. Unsurprisingly, it’ll be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases.

The story is about a group of katana-wielding shrine maidens who fight against mysterious creatures called Aradama. They attend five special schools in Japan, and their activity is licensed by the government.

Alongside the announcement, we get the first full trailer showing both story scenes involving familiar characters and battle gameplay. Many waifus from the original story return, but five more have been created specifically for the game: Mihono Asakura, Chie Setouchi, Kofuki Shichinosato, Kiyoka Musumi, and Miyura Kitora (instant best girl, and as usual, I’ll fight you over this).

Below you can check out the key art and portrait for each girl, alongside the trailer. The official website of the site is also available (in Japanese) here.
