Jade Raymond Says Ubisoft was Working on a New Splinter Cell Design Concept Before She Left the Company

Before joining EA and eventually leaving Motive just a few months back, Jade Raymond was previously synonymous for her time at Ubisoft, which included work on properties like Assassin’s CreedWatch Dogs, and Splinter Cell. While Raymond hasn’t been with Ubisoft since 2014, she recently revealed that before departing, the company was actively working on a new concept for one of the publisher’s dormant franchises.

Speaking with Game Reactor in a recent interview, Raymond talked a bit about her time at Ubisoft and divulged that before she left, the company was actively working on a design concept for a new Splinter Cell game. While she couldn’t give any specifics about the project due to no longer working at Ubi, Raymond at least confirmed that the publisher has given more thought to a subsequent entry in the series following the release of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the most recent entry in the franchise which launched in 2013.

Raymond’s full statement on Splinter Cell said the following:

“The Splinter Cell [Blacklist] that I worked on was the last Splinter Cell that shipped, so that hasn’t been evolving.

You know what? There is a design that we actually had and worked on that we would have wanted to make, but since I am not at Ubisoft anymore I can’t talk about it and I don’t know who wants to share that concept.”

Even though it has now been over five years since we last saw Sam Fisher, it seems like only a matter of time until Ubisoft brings back the beloved special operatives agent. The fact that Ubi has been kicking around new ideas as far back as 2014 seems to prove that it hasn’t forgotten about the series by any means. Splinter Cell is too big of a property for Ubisoft to remain dormant forever and this new piece of info from Raymond at least should give you hope about the future.

Hopefully, 2019 can finally be the year where Ubisoft brings back Splinter Cell, or at the very least confirms that there is a new entry in the pipeline. Until then, we’ll just have to make do with Fisher’s inclusion in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
