Ever since Call of Duty: WWII was announced people have been incredibly excited for the series to go back to its World War 2 roots. Well, after being on the market for three days, it seems like thatbsame enthusiasm was brought over to sales — publisher Activision has released a few different sales numbers for the first-person shooter.

In its first three days on the market, Call of Duty: WWII surpassed $500 million, which is quite a staggering number if I do say so myself. In addition to that, the digital PlayStation 4 version of the game set the record for highest number of copies sold on its first day for all full PS4 games. Finally, it was revealed that, in terms of overall units, the game sold double the amount that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare sold in the same amount of time.

While speaking about the sales numbers, Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of Activision, had this to say:

“We challenged our players to get their squads back together and they answered the call, with the highest number of players we’ve ever seen on current gen consoles and PC. Call of Duty: WWII returns the franchise to its roots and the results are incredible, selling twice as many units in its opening weekend as last year, and setting the day one record for full-game downloads on PlayStation 4. Our $500 million opening weekend was not only bigger than Thor: Ragnarok‘s, it was bigger than the opening weekends of both Thor and Wonder Woman combined. And we’re committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content.”

In my opinion, it’s nice to see a series that I played and loved in high school make a comeback in terms of popularity.

Call of Duty: WWII was released on November 3, 2017, and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. If you want to check out our impressions of the game, you can do so by clicking here.
