Developer Drastic Games is ready to make their debut with Soundfall. Formed by alumni from Epic Games, with veterans who worked on the immensely popular Fortnite, Gears of War, and the now-dead Paragon, the team finally unveiled their first project: a rhythm-based dungeon crawler with a procedurally-generated environment.

The game, according to a press release by Drastic, will contain a “lively mix of twin-stick shooting and rhythm-based gameplay.” The player will be in the shoes of the appropriately-named Melody, a young audiophile who finds herself in the also appropriately-named land of Symphonia. This is a world where music comes to life, and Melody soon finds herself embroiled in a conflict against a dark force called Discord—no, not the chat application.

The levels, loot, enemies and more elements of the game’s environment dynamically react to the music in the game, and players will have to battle and traverse the world in sync with the beat. The game will feature both online and local four-player co-operative gameplay. And naturally, given the pedigree of the development team, the game will run on Unreal Engine 4.

Soundfall will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2019. Attendees of PAX West, EGX, and PAX Australia this year will be able to play a demo of the game. Check out the first trailer and a litany of screenshots below.
