Hearthstone‘s latest expansion, The Witchwood, is available now for your playing pleasure. The process of creating these new additions is fairly interesting and a new video featuring the developers gives you a look at how they created the Worgen-filled set.
After the goofy intro, the video begins with game director Ben Brode as he explains how they began development on The Witchwood with the implementation of the Worgen and their transforming nature. Senior game designer Dave Kosak then explains how they wanted to tell horror stories about the new set and naturally wanted to use Gilneas, the “spookiest place in Azeroth”
Additionally, they talk about some of the new cards including Hagatha the Witch, which Kosak describes as “the embodiment of what you should be scared of in the Witchwood” and the Shudderwock, which Brode says was a “huge challenge to implement” and “the most complicated card we’ve ever made.”
