Hear Out Dragon Quest XI S’s Japanese Voice Cast with More than 50 Voice-over Samples

Square Enix updated the official site for Dragon Quest XI S with a page to draw Omikuji, the traditional Japanese New Year’s fortunes which people randomly draw at temples. As you enter your name, you’ll be granted various fortunes for 2019 on your studies, love life or even battles against slimes. You’ll also get to hear a voice clip from a random Dragon Quest XI character, commenting on the fortune you’ve drawn.

As a pun with the game’s name, the best fortune one can get isn’t “Daikichi”/”great blessing” like in a real temple, but “Daikichi S”. The featured characters also include three side-characters, Gemma, Mia, and Vince, revealing their Japanese voices for the first time.

You can find all the New Year’s Fortune voiceovers below. The main character is unvoiced. As a side note, except for Gemma, Mia, and Vince, all the other characters listed above already appeared in another voiced game, the mobile card game Dragon Quest Rivals. As such, we already knew their voice actors long before Square Enix even announced Dragon Quest XI S.

Dragon Quest XI S‘s first trailer was revealed at the Jump Festa 2019 event on December 22, 2018. Dragon Quest XI S will feature Japanese voices along with new content. More information on the game will be revealed at a later date. The Japanese PlayStation 4 version of Dragon Quest XI didn’t feature any voiceovers, unlike the western version, as director Yuji Horii wanted to be able to polish the game’s scenario until the last minute.

Dragon Quest XI S releases for Switch in 2019 in Japan. The game has no western release date as of now. The original game, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, is available for 3DS, PC and PlayStation 4 in Japan, and for PC and PlayStation 4 in the west.
