Initially released in February of 2009, Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game developed by the now-defunct Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios for Xbox 360 and PC. Set within the same universe as the main Halo series, Halo Wars is set 21 years before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. Players are tasked with leading human soldiers aboard the warship Spirit of Fire to stop an ancient fleet of ships from falling into the hands of the genocidal alien race called the Covenant.

Despite the fact that Halo Wars‘ original developer closed down before the game’s release, earlier this year 343 Industries and Creative Assembly released Halo Wars 2 on PC and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can check out our review.
