After a teaser for the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on PC was let loose by 343 Industries just yesterday, the first game in the series has now officially made its way to the platform as part of The Master Chief Collection.

Following the release of Halo: Reach in December 2019, Halo: Combat Evolved has now become the second game within The Master Chief Collection to land on PC. If you already purchased The Master Chief Collection in full a few months back, Halo: CE Anniversary will now be available to be downloaded for free. Otherwise, you can purchase it separately on the Microsoft Store or Steam. Additionally, the full MCC is available for free if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber on PC.

Now that Combat Evolved has made its way to PC, it will be interesting to see if the game ends up getting a massive influx of players. Back when Halo: Reach landed on PC, The Master Chief Collection immediately sold nearly 2 million copies on Steam alone and became one of the hottest games on the platform. Since then, the player base has died down a bit, but it will be intriguing to see if those players now return to now get their fill of Combat Evolved.

As for what’s next in The Master Chief Collection on PC, Halo 2 will be the next game in the franchise to be added to the bundle. 343 Industries doesn’t have a release window for Halo 2 just yet, but we’ll likely start hearing more about its launch on the platform in the coming weeks and months.
