It’s Groundhog Day, and we are getting a lot more than an early spring this year. Game Studio, Tequila Works, is bringing us Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son for PlayStation VR. And before you need to guess, yes this is a follow up to the classic Bill Murray Film, Groundhog Day.

The PSVR title puts you in the shoes of Phil Connors Jr., the son of the main protagonist from Groundhog Day. Phil Jr. is tired of living in his father’s shadow in the town of Punxsutawney. But everything changes when he suffers the same Groundhog Day loop his father once experienced.

Not only do you get to experience this insane loop of repeating the same day over and over again. You work to disrupt the loop making unique narrative decisions in order to disrupt the cycle. CEO and Creative Director, Raul Rubio says these narrative decisions will “Not only will the player have a much stronger sense of physical interactivity, but a deeper emotional connection to the non-playable characters.”

Now it’s uncertain how long this VR experience will last, but perhaps it could be up to the player as to how long the game will last. Maybe a player can get it right the first time and break the cycle right away. Or maybe things don’t quite add up for the player, and figuring things out might take some time. This is all speculation, but it would be neat to see how this loop mechanic will play out exactly. With games like PT knocking this out of the park, it’s exciting to see more games incorporate a loop mechanic.

If you’re looking to expand your PlayStation VR collection or maybe you’re just a big Groundhog Day fan, you can expect to pick up this title later this year. Now let’s hope this does well enough so we can get a Meatballs VR title.

In other PSVR news, Fate/Grand Order VR is heading to the platform with an English Dub. You can experience two different stories with Saber and Mash, with Saber’s story being more of a drama and Mash’s more of a light experience. Fate/Grand Order Vr is releasing on PlayStation VR on February 26.
