Today Gran Turismo Sport Producer Kazunori Yamauchi was awarded an honorary degree in vehicle engineering by the “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering of Italian University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Following the event, he took the time to answer a couple of questions.

You can see the video below, kindly provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment Italy. Unfortunately the audio of the translation is quite low, so you can read it below.

“This is something that I never imagined 25 years ago when I first started developing the games. The city of Modena, is of course one of the most important parts of the automotive industry, and to be honored here for my works makes me very happy.”

Yamauchi-san was also asked to share the origins of his long-lived passion for cars and driving, which was already intense when he was only a child.

“When I was three years old, I was already able to name all the cars on the road, and by the time I became fifteen, I became very interested in the driving mechanics.”

Looking at the video, Yamauchi-san certainly seems to be rather moved by being recognized with such a high honor in Ferrari’s home turf.

A few days ago, Yamauchi-san shared a some info on Gran Turismo Sport‘s upcoming DLC, promising new cars of various classes and new tracks. He also mentioned that the beta of the game was played by over one million gamers.
