In an interview with The Switch Effect, one of the co-founders from Limited Run Games hinted that Golf Story may be the first limited physical release we see from them on Nintendo Switch.

Douglas Bogart, one of the co-founders of the company said:

“I can’t really give any hints, but I can tell you we thought our first title would just be a pipe dream, but instead it’s a hole in one.”

Earlier this month, the company announced that they would finally be bringing physical Switch titles to their online store sometime in 2018. Limited Run Games has always primarily focused mostly on PS4, PS Vita, and a few PC titles, so it’s definitely exciting news that we may be getting one of Switch’s best indie games in physical form.

If you’ve never heard of Golf Story, it’s a charming golf game that blends elements from role-playing, sports, and adventure games. It also uses a 2D art-style similar to the classic role-playing games you could find on the SNES.

If you’re not familiar with Limited Run Games at all, they essentially partner up with different developers to publish very limited physical copies of their games. In the past they’ve published physical copies for Lawbreakers, Ys: Origins, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Shadow Complex, Firewatch, and so many more. The company’s next physical releases in November will be Absolver and Nex Machina

Golf Story is available right now digitally, only on the Nintendo Switch.
