Golden Guardians Have Parted Ways with Head Coach Locodoco

After two weeks into the League of Legends North American LCS, the Golden Guardians have announced that they have fired head coach Yoonsup “Locodoco” Choi.

The Golden Guardians are off to a rough start to begin the split as they currently rank at the bottom of the standings with a 0-4 record. In the interim, Tyler Perron will serve as head coach for this weekend’s games.

As a new team joining the North America scene this year, the Golden Guardians–owned by the same ownership group as the NBA’s Golden State Warriors–weren’t expected to rank high in their first season in the league. Ownership and players knew that it would be a process building the team up to sustain success. Assuming that Locodoco’s firing was based on the performance of the team, it seems that ownership wasn’t willing to accept early mediocrity as much as we might have thought.

The Golden Guardians will see if they can turn things around this weekend as they face off against the stiff competition of Team SoloMid and Team Liquid.
