While it has been over a year and a half since it was released on PS4, God of War has still left an impression thanks to its vivid storytelling and detailed world and gameplay. While the game successfully rebooted the God of War franchise with a striking story and emotions behind it, its development has still been a source of incredible insight into the making of video game, and now Sony Santa Monica is giving us a closer look (or listen) through a new podcast series.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Santa Monica Studio detailed a new limited series podcast it is debuting called “Worlds Collide,” which will provide insight and highlights from the development of 2018’s acclaimed God of War and the ways that the studio collaborated to bring the epic game to life.

Specifically, Santa Monica Studio detailed that the first episode, titled “Fitting a Side Quest in Anywhere,” provides listeners with insights into the making of the “Witch Bones” quest and other side quests featured in God of War, and how they were designed so players could hop into them at any point in the story. The first episode features Santa Monica Studio’s Luis Sanchez (Lead Level Designer), Anthony DiMento (Senior Systems Designer), and Adam Dolin (Narrative Designer) to give listeners added context and insight into the making of the game “across level, system, and narrative design.”

The podcast itself is available on PlayStation’s official Soundcloud channel, but can also be listened to or downloaded through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and other podcast platforms.

This of course isn’t the first time that Santa Monica Studio has pulled back the curtain a bit on the making of God of War, as earlier in the year the studio released “Raising Kratos,” a full-length documentary that explored the game’s development featuring its director, Cory Barlog, and numerous other team members from Santa Monica Studio. However, as an avid podcast listener myself, I’ll surely be giving “Worlds Collide” a listen to not only add another gaming-focused podcast to my queue, but to hear more about one of my favorite games of the past few years.

God of War is available now exclusively on PS4, and if you have yet to play the game for yourself, you can pick it up on Amazon right now. For a closer look into the development of the game, you can listen to the first episode of the Worlds Collide podcast below:
