Geoff Keighley has dropped a surprise, announcing that The Game Festival is returning for a special Spring edition and will be bringing a large range of video game demos to Steam.

Last year, The Game Awards, which is hosted by Geoff Keighley announced a digital event that was taking place alongside it. The Game Festival saw a bunch of game demos become available for PC users through the Steam launcher.

With GDC being cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, it seems like Keighley has reached out to help developers share their games to the PC audience.

Keighley states that the Spring edition of The Game Festival features over 40 games consisting of titles from studios who planned to demo their games at the Indie Megabooth, Day of the Devs, and The Mix, all booths that were to be held at the GDC.

It was also confirmed that there would be more editions of the festival held throughout the year with more details on that front still to come. Keighley shares the credit with Steam, Indie Megabooth, and iam8bit/Day of the Devs, who all worked together to put the festival together.

The Game Festival: Spring Edition will be taking place today at 10am PDT on Steam and will continue through to March 23, 2020. The event will be free.
