Publisher PQube announced Wednesday morning that the upcoming Inti Creates developed on rail shooter Gal*Gun 2 has been denied classification in Germany.

By Gal*Gun 2 receiving the ban, the game will become difficult for fans in the region to play the game, resulting in smaller retailers opting to import the game in order to stock them on their shelves.

Online retailer Rice Digital reached out to western publisher Pqube for comment, “We’ll always try to get games through classification regardless of the possibility of it being denied, as we feel that everyone should have the right and the access to play the games they want to play. It is our opinion that disliking the content in a piece of entertainment or art, and voicing that dislike, is totally fine and even encouraged, but denying that work the right to exist in a market based on personal opinions and prejudices, is something we strongly disagree with.”

Developer Inti Creates made a comment on their official Twitter saying, Gal*Gun 2 has been refused classification in Germany, meaning a German release of the game cannot be sold or advertised there. PQube did everything they possibly could to get a rating, and it’s just unfortunate that this is now the second country to ban Gal*Gun.”

The reason for the ban most likely stems from the content featured in Gal*Gun 2. Players must travel around a school and shoot at girls with a gun that sends them in a euphoric state as the player looks for the true love.

In the past, other games have been denied classification in the German region from publishers NISA and other PQube titles.

Recently, Rice Digital announced a limited edition of Gal*Gun 2 and also a new trailer was released giving a preview of the gameplay.

Gal*Gun 2 will release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on March 15 in Japan, and in spring 2018 in North America and Europe.
