During an interview with DualShockers, The Game Bakers Founder and Creative Director Emeric Thoa revealed that to date Furi has been acquired by more than 3 million people.

As you may know, Furi is a hack and slash meets bullet-hell meets boss-rush game that bursted onto the scene back in July 2016 when it released on PS4 and PC. At the time of its launch, its lightening fast pace combat was well-received and its high difficulty level that is so reliant on perfect timing and consistent composure was equally lauded and criticized. It notably sits in the high 70’s on Metacritic.

Furi then came to Xbox One this past December, as well as received DLC in the form of One More Fightwhich added a brand-new bossfight. Across all three of these platforms, Furi has apparently been downloaded by more than 3 million people, a strong number for a game from an independent developer’s first console/PC game.

It’s important to note that when Furi initially launched, it was included as part of Sony’s offering of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for said month. This undoubtedly makes up a substantial amount of the three million-plus figure. In fact, Thoa revealed to me that sales “are a bit lower than we would have liked,” however, the game continues to keep selling and do great for the studio in the long run. He specifically added that they are “pretty happy” with the game’s performance.

Furi is available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One for $19.99 USD. Meanwhile, the game’s award-winning electro/synth-wave soundtrack is available to grab both on vinyl and on CD. For more information on the 2016 hidden-gembe sure to check out its official website.

Later this week our full interview with Thoa where we talk post-Furi and more will publish — so make sure to keep an eye out for that.
