After the game’s Battle Royale mode was called out by the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Fortnite has continued to grow at a very fast rate, with the aforementioned Battle Royale mode even overshadowing the base co-op survival mode for many. Today, Epic Games gave us another glimpse at just how many people are playing Fortnite across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and teased a major map update for Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Since Fortnite launched back in July of 2017, the game’s base mode and Battle Royale combined have seen over 40 million players. In addition, the game has also peaked at 2 million concurrent players, a great feat for any multiplayer game.

The developers also gave more details on a major map update coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale tomorrow, January 18. The update adds two new large points of interest to the game: Titled Towers a new city area, and Shifty Shafts, an underground mine. Epic Games has also updated already existing areas to make them more distinct, adding new loot and choke points to many of the map’s locations.

You can check out a brand new trailer showcasing what’s new in this update below. Fortnite is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with it’s Battle Royale mode being free.
