After a wait that’s been years in the making, Final Fantasy VII Remake has finally arrived and shown us a new side of Midgar that’s bigger than ever before. With such a high level of anticipation, Square Enix thanked fans in the middle of such of a big moment, and might have given us a taste of what is in store for the game’s future.

In a new video released by PlayStation and Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase shared a message thanking fans for their patience and support leading up to its release. As a remake that fans have been asking about for some time, Kitase expressed how the game’s development team was aware of these high expectations and wanted to deliver a remake that fans would find exciting and memorable. You can watch the full video below:

Alongside the message from Kitase, one of the other notable details from the video is that the gameplay footage shown includes the disclaimer “Gameplay captured on PC,” which could potentially hint at the game’s arrival on PC down the line.

Of course, this could mean a number of different things, the most obvious being that the gameplay itself was captured from a PC versus directly from a PS4 console, or that the footage is perhaps captured from a development build of the game running on PC. These would be the most likely reasons compared to there being an actual PC version of the game in development.

However, given Square Enix’s track record (with a large number of past Final Fantasy games available on PC), it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Final Fantasy VII Remake eventually make its way onto PC. The video itself notes that FFVII Remake‘s exclusivity on PS4 is for one year through April 2021, and surely Square Enix would be looking at bringing the game to other platforms, whether that is the Xbox One, PC, or possibly the next-generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X). At the moment there is no official confirmation of a PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, but hopefully we can’t imagine that being too far off from happening.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available now on PS4.
