FIFA 19 Retains Number One Spot on UK Sales Chart After Black Friday, Darksiders III Has a Rough Debut

As we begin to enter the final weeks of the year and new releases begin to slow, it’ll be interesting to see which games perform best down the stretch.

For last week in the UK, the first week following that of Black Friday, FIFA 19 has held firm in the top spot for the week continuing its dominance as one of the year’s best-selling titles. This is now the second straight week that FIFA 19 has taken home the number one position on the chart months after its initial release. When 2018 comes to a close, it seems like FIFA 19 could stand as the region’s top-selling game of 2018.

Perhaps most disappointing this week, Darksiders III was the only major new release on the chart and it had a rather poor showing out of the gate. Darksiders III debuted at 32nd on the UK sales chart, which doesn’t seem to indicate positive things for publisher THQ Nordic. Then again, it is also important to point out that many of the games above it on this list were likely on sale due to the holiday season. Plus, Darksiders has always been a rather niche franchise in the first place, although I’d still have to imagine that this position mixed with the game’s poor reception isn’t good.

As for other noteworthy movements of the week, Red Dead Redemption 2 leapfrogged Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to re-take the second spot. Meanwhile, Battlefield V and Forza Horizon 4 held firm at fourth and fifth respectively while Spyro: Reignited Trilogy jumped back up three spots into sixth.
