Back in August of last year, Dodge Roll Games promised an additional set of free downloadable content for the roguelike shooter Enter the Gungeon, titled “Advanced Gungeons & Draguns.” After a long wait, Dodge Roll has announced on Twitter that the update has been submitted for console certification, bringing the DLC closer to release.

The impending Gungeons & Draguns update solidifies Enter the Gungeon, the relentlessly tough bullet-hell published by Devolver Digital, as a gift that keeps on giving. Initially released back in 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and Windows, developer Dodge Roll has brought the game to Linux, Mac, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, in addition to releasing a free Supply Drop Update that gifted players with new weapons and room layouts.

According to a blog post on Enter the Gungeon‘s Steam page, the Advanced Gungeons & Draguns update will provide players with “quality of life updates” including “new rooms, NPCs, secrets, and a new mini-boss” as well as “hundreds of new and substantially more powerful synergies, a bunch of new guns and items, and getting revenge on the Dungeon’s most hated resident, our new boss.” The blog post goes on to state that these changes will make the game easier and more accessible for players that found earlier versions of the game “too hard, too stingy, or too slow,” while “retaining options, for players who really engage with the difficulty of the game.”

Earlier this year, some fans began to grow upset with Dodge Roll for not offering any sort of release window for the update. Taking to Reddit, Dodge Roll employee Brent Sodman wrote a letter to players explaining the reasons why Advanced Gungeons & Draguns was delayed, citing complexities with the game’s Nintendo Switch port as the primary reason for the delay. While Dodge Roll has still not offered a release date for Advanced Gungeons & Draguns, the fact that the update has been submitted to console certification suggests that players won’t have to wait much longer.

Enter the Gungeon is available now on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
