During today’s earnings call from Electronic Arts going over financial information from Q4 of the past fiscal year, the publisher’s executives talked a bit about the upcoming release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the expectations for the game.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson and CFO Blake Jorgensen said that they expect Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to sell between 6 and 8 million copies after it releases later in 2019. These projections are through the end of the company’s current fiscal year, which is transpiring from now until the end of March 31, 2020.

In the past, EA has projected marks for games like AnthemBattlefield V, and Star Wars Battlefront II that later weren’t reached, so it’s hard to say just how accurate these projections for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order might be. Still, in a time where Star Wars games haven’t been plentiful, there seems to be some legitimate excitement around Fallen Order that I feel like we haven’t seen in a few years. While that excitement won’t necessarily translate directly into sales, especially considering we don’t even know how the game will play yet, this projection does seem feasible.

It’s also worth mentioning that Star Wars Battlefront II, despite all of the backlash it received at launch, still sold over 7 million copies before the end of 2017. Even though Battlefront is a more established brand compared to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it proves that Star Wars fans still show up in droves when a new video game launches.

There’s a lot we have left to see of this new Respawn-developed title but we’ll learn more next month during EA Play. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release later this November 15 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
