EA Access is Electronic Arts‘ answer to the growing number of subscription services out there. It gives you access to most of EA’s catalog and discounts for in-game purchases in games like FIFA. And now, the service is, along with several titles, migrating on over to Steam. Today, EA released a smorgasbord of older titles on Valve’s service and noted on many of those game’s store pages that EA Access is coming soon.
The list of games now on Steam is sizeable. There are a ton of hits here that would make the service valuable for some Steam users. However, EA’s selection of sports titles is noticeably absent. For many, those games are the only reason to have EA Access. After all, if you’re already spending money on FIFA points in FIFA 20, you might as well sign up to Access and get the discount.
And sports games aren’t the only ones still missing. There’s no The Sims 4 content. Nor are games like A Way Out or Anthem. Obviously, we know these are coming with the service. It just feels weird to roll them out so slowly. It’s also worth noting that you still need Origin to play many of these games, so it’s kind of an odd release all around. Presumably, we’ll hear much more about this and other EA news at next week’s EA Play event. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.
All that being said, if you want to check out some great games like Mirror’s Edge, Unravel 2, or even Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, you certainly can. Check the full list of EA games on Steam to see if there’s anything that suits you.
