Following a new round of funding, Esports organization 100 Thieves has found itself a handful of new investors along with a new co-owner in that of hip-hop artist Drake.

As of today, Drake, joined by entrepreneur Scooter Braun, will serve as new co-owners of 100 Thieves alongside current CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag and Dan Gilbert, who is also the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Other new investors in the 100 Thieves organization include Sequoia Capital, Wndrco, Marc Benioff, Tao Capital, Green Bay Venture, and Advancit Capital.

As for the role that Drake will be playing with 100 Thieves moving forward, he will be acting as a strategic advisor. 100 Thieves has in the past collaborated with Drake on custom gaming stations that the rapper used to take with him on his most recent tour for the album Scorpion. In addition, Drake will also help collaborate with the organization on new clothing and apparel. Braun, on the other hand, will now join 100 Thieves’ board of directors.

Even though it seems as though Drake likely won’t be active in the day-to-day functions of running 100 Thieves, his involvement with the company definitely draws more eyes to the organization as a whole and will surely bring in more 100 Thieves fans as a result. It has become trendier over the past few years for stars of Drake’s caliber to invest in esports teams and it seems likely that more high-profile stars will get involved with this avenue of gaming over the coming years.

As of now, 100 Thieves has teams in League of LegendsCall of DutyClash Royale, and Fortnite with owner Nadeshot saying that there are plans to expand into more games in the future.
