Square Enix and Shueisha announced a live stream for Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, where we’ll learn more about the upcoming new game and anime adaptations. The stream will be held on May 27, at 20:00 JST (Click here for a time conversion table). May 27, 1986 was the release date of the very first Dragon Quest game on Famicom in Japan, and the date is known as Dragon Quest Day in Japan. Hence why the stream will be taking place on that date.

The stream will reveal brand new information on the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai game, and the cast of the new anime. The stream will be held on V-Jump’s YouTube channel. V-Jump magazine is owned by Japanese mastodonte publisher Shueisha, the owner of Shuukan Shounen Jump, where the original Dai no Daibouken manga was serialized.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is known as Dragon Quest Dai no Daiboken in Japan, and as Fly in South America and Europe, where it’s particularly popular. The original manga written by Riku Sanjo and drawn by Koji Inada was published from 1989 to 1996. An anime adaptation already happened in 1991. The brand new anime adaptation and the game adaptation were announced at a Jump Festa 2020 stage event. The event most notably featured Dragon Quest key person Yuji Horii, who hinted the game will be launching on consoles rather than smartphones. The Adventure of Dai is an incredibly beloved series and fans all around the world are awaiting this new game and anime. Certain fans are also speculating the anime and/or game will be a sequel, as the announcement key visual and trailer features a certain iconic scene and the final page of the manga.
The latest main Dragon Quest game is Dragon Quest XI. In early 2020, Yuji Horii mentioned how Dragon Quest XII is still a little further ahead and how something else might release before then.
