It’s a brand new year, which means the fine folks at Microsoft are back with new Free Play Days. The first iteration of the popular promotion will let players experience DiRT Rally 2.0 for a weekend of driving bliss. As always, these games are available for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members throughout the duration of the promotion.

Free Play Days have been on a holiday break over the last few weeks. The last one took place the weekend before Christmas and let members play Goat Simulator, Puyo Puyo  Champions, and Valkyria Chronicles 4. In fact, this is the first time in a while that the promotion has only included one game. That said, the promotion isn’t all about a free opportunity to try out a new game.

Included with Free Play Days is something for everyone. Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members get a game to play, but everyone gets free access to Xbox Live for the weekend. Obviously, it’s not the most efficient way to play online with your friends, but it does give casual fans a chance to see what all the hubbub is about in their favorite games.

The latest Free Play Days runs from January 2-5. That gives Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate players a weekend to try out DiRT Rally 2.0 and see if it’s worth a full purchase. Anyone without Xbox Live can also use the weekend to get in a few multiplayer games for free and see if the service is for you.
