Today, video game publisher Rebellion Developments kicked off their 2018 announcements by revealing that they had acquired fellow British Developer Radiant Worlds for an undisclosed amount. The studio’s name has been changed to Rebellion Warwick, and it luckily seems like most of Radiant Worlds’ 70 employees are staying on board after the transition.

For those of you who don’t know, Radiant Worlds was founded in 2013 by  Andrew Oliver, Philip Oliver, and Richard Smithies. For years, the developer worked on a free-to-play sandbox MMO titled SkySaga: Infinite Isles. Unfortunately, after publisher Smilegate pulled out of the project last August, development on SkySaga: Infinite Isles ceased. Not much has been heard about the company since then, until this acquisition announcement today.

According to Rebellion, founders Philip Oliver and Andrew Oliver will remain at Rebellion Warwick. Phillip Oliver commented on the acquisition, and seems happy to have joined Rebellion:

“We’ve known the Kingsleys for many years and have always had enormous respect for them and the company they’ve built. We know that our core values of creativity, passion, and ambition are mirrored by Rebellion, and we’re excited to be part of their amazing team.”

Jason Kingsley, Co-Founder and CEO of Rebellion, also commented on the acquisition:

“To bring such great people to the company, just after our 25th birthday, is quite remarkable. It’s been a great year for us and we have a lot of plans to help make 2018, 2019 and beyond bigger and even greater years for Rebellion.”

As for the future of Rebellion Warwick, they will assist in the development of many future Rebellion titles, immediately starting work on Strange Brigade, a 1930’s co-op shooter that was revealed last year. In the future, Rebellion Warwick will developer titles in series like Sniper Elite, Evil Genius, and Battlezone.

DualShockers will be sure to let you know when any of Rebellion Warwick’s future projects are unveiled.
